After finishing the 8th book in the Pretty Little Liars series, Wanted, by Sarah Shepard, four girls Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily best friend is murdered. I saw a continuing theme of secrets keeping us apart.
The theme of the story is secrets keeping us apart. for example, in the first book, Pretty Little Liars, Aria saw her dad with another woman. She didn't tell her mom, and three years later her mother found out. She also found out that Aria knew. That seriously damaged aria and her mothers relationship.
Also, throughout the entire series, Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily, are constantly keeping secrets from each other. This often results in them being angry with each other. It also pervents the girls from being closer friends.
In conclusion, that is why the theme of the story is that secrets keep us apart. Aria kept a secret from her mother, that damaged their relationship, and Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily kept secrets from eachother, keeping each other at a distance. This shows that in life, secrets and gossip can result in problems, and prevent us from being closer.
